Not what I usually post, but when I saw this on Twitter (thank you, @timworth89), I knew I'd have to share here, too. Incredibly well-dressed late 17thc French ladies, sneaking out to the arbor in the garden to play cards, drink (note the broken wineglass on the floor) and smoke - and smoking long clay pipes, too. Happy #Valentines Day! 💕I've been saving this bit of 18thc silliness for months to share today - a poor young gentlemen is besieged by cherubs and cupids. If you can enlarge it, you'll see that he has a few tears in the knees and thighs of his fashionable trousers, and I can only imagine that Cupid's darts have done the damage.
