$32 Mike Savad - Before electricity was exploited they used water. A turbine spun, and cables and belts then in turn made the machines worked. It was terribly dangerous, and rather loud. But it was faster and easier to do it by hand. #steampunk #trade #buildingTrades #carpentry #woodworker #mancave #oldSchool Woodworking Crafts, Woodworking, Steampunk, Woodworking Shop, Nature, Woodworking Projects, Woodworking Materials

$37 Mike Savad - There's a good reason why guys in those days didn't have long hair. Everything was belt driven, your whole head could get stuck in one of those belts, and believe me, that will ruin your whole day. Nothing worse then getting your head stuck in the machinery. Then poor old Henry from maintenance, will need to use his "stick" to knock you down, and then he has to recalibrate the system... #savad #steampunk #machinist Techno, Garages, Blacksmith Shop, Industrial Machine, Blacksmithing

$37 Mike Savad - The two most used tools in a machinists shop are the lathe and the hacksaw. The hacksaw is powered by belts, though not today since it's clearly out of alignment. The lathe is designed to spin metal to allow you to create anything round. The old time shop aren't as noisy as the current ones, though there was a lot more flapping of belts and squeaking. The downside was the breathing conditions, OSHA didn't really exist then. #savad #machinist Industrial Revolution, Steampunk Rooms

$32 Mike Savad There is always a beginning, This is where you start, in this old machine shop, And just like your grand pappy before you, he started on one of these machines too. You can almost smell the oil in the air, the clattering of belts, the shrill sound of metal being cut. This is your job, your a machinist and you make tools and parts that make the world work. #savad #steampunk #machinist #machineShop #toolMaker #workshop #mancave Mascara

$32 Mike Savad The machine shop really hasn't changed all that much over the years. The stuff you see here is pretty much what you would find in a modern day shop - that doesn't have computers. These machines however are driven by leather belts, which are ran from 2 large motors (one for each side of the room). Because of this, it was always wise not to wear anything loose. #savad #machinist #machineShop #toolMaker #toolAndDie #steampunk #workshop #manroom #mancave #tools Vintage Industrial Décor, Industrial Décor, Vintage Industrial Decor

$32 Mike Savad - I wonder what it was like to work in a shop like this back then. The sound of metal being cut, the slapping of belts, whirring of motors. Dark conditions, despite huge windows, burning metal smells in the air. Actually not much more different then it is now, only less robots.
