The WMO was created in March 1950 and worked jointly with its parent organization, the International Meteorological Organization for one year. This first Organization was initially established in Vienna and moved in 1939, in Switzerland, as it was a neutral country during the war. In 1999, WMO moved to its new building in Geneva. WMO and UN Environment jointly set up IPCC in 1988, to prepare, based on available scientific information, assessments on all aspects of climate change and its impacts.
