This is true foot porn. Vitamin T: Texture for your feet! I recently learned we have literal thousands of nerve endings in the soles of our feet. Texture for our feet actually enhances our neural pathways and provides a bunch of cool brain benefits! #FeelTheEarth #barefootfreedom #getgrounded #ancestrialhealth
While I don't hike barefoot, I do wear my earth runners, which is almost the same thing. The minimalist sole is super flexible and lets me feel the ground, while protecting from sharp bits. Plus- they're grounded!! #FeelTheEarth #barefootfreedom #getgrounded #ancestrialhealth #schumannresonance
Within all of us is an ancestral memory of movement that longs to be reawakened. We modern humans can learn to master again the ancient biotechnology that our bodies represent. The practice of Natural Movement brings life and vitality to our bodies through awakening our senses. -Erwan Le Corre @Erwanlecorre We make sense of the world through our senses.🌿👣 #NaturalMovement #MovNat #embodyyourbiology #moveyournature #moveyourDNA #movebetterfeelbetter
This goes to show what a lifetime of regular shoes does to our feet. Normal shoes are stiff, narrow and rigid, like wearing a cast. They tend to wreck the form and function of feet as they grow. Instead of continuing to atrophy your feet and your lower extremities, opt for footwear with a wide toe box (or no toe box), zero drop and flexible soles. (📷: @Urban.gymnast) #foothealth
"The sole of the foot is richly covered with some 1,300 nerve endings per square inch." -Dr. Rossi (podiatrist) 👣 Why So Many Nerve Endings? To keep us 'in touch' with the Earth. The real physical world around us. It's called 'sensory response.' The foot is the vital link between the person and the Earth. Dr. Rossi refers to the foot "as a kind of radar-sonic base." 👣 (From the book Earthing by Clinton Ober)

Did you know that arch support (orthotics) can actually cause your feet more harm than good? The arch is among the strongest of all weight-bearing structures and has appeared in nature and in architecture for all of time. Most people using arch support believe it to be a way to solve their podiatry issues. The truth is, orthotics are nothing more than a crutch that prevent your foot from doing its job properly.
Normal ≠ Natural The foot shape in the first picture may be common, but it is NOT normal or natural. Our feet have been shaped over hundreds of thousands of years to support us while we jump, walk, and run. Shoes have existed for only a blip of time. They deform our feet and cause all sorts of health problems that humans never faced in times before shoes.
First rule of optimal footwear: Avoid heeled shoes 👣 Heeled footwear is a major culprit for mobility issues at the ankle, increased pressure on the forefoot and problems with running mechanics. 👣 Replace heeled footwear with zero drop footwear and immediately improve your body posture and help avoid preventable problems like tight ankles, knee pain and low back pain.
Heel lifts (not only for high heels, look at any pair of men's dress shoes), arch support (which causes weaker natural arches), and fashionable "narrow" toed shoes that deform the feet. Overtime we become weak-footed, lose our suppleness, and the shape of our foot changes. Solution? Take your shoes off, let your feet breathe, and go barefoot more often. Opt for Earth Runners when you must wear shoes, as they allow your feet to function naturally.
Human feet weren't designed to wear shoes. In fact, wearing shoes creates an artificial dependence. They restrict the body from moving as it was designed to move and has evolved to work for thousands of years. Cushy shoes and insoles for arch support are crutches that restrict the foot, causing weakness, and are not a good long term solution.
