Although Christmas is upon us, we want to share some of our favorite modern Christmas quilt patterns currently on the market. The holiday season can be a busy time of year, and finding time to quilt for yourself can be a challenge. And yet, there’s no lack of creative ideas and inspiration to make your Yuletide glow.

For the last nineteen years, I have made a Christmas themed quilt to use as the artwork on my Christmas cards. With the exception of the first quilt, all the designs are mine. Many of these have won awards and/or been featured in national quilting magazines. Patterns are available for a number of them. Here is the series thus far.

This is the pattern for a pictorial herringbone quilt. It is my modern interpretation of a Christmas quilt. It is made exclusively of strips of fabric that are all the same size, sewn together in a herringbone pattern. Most of the strips are of a single fabric, but many are pieced. The strips are sewn together with regular piecing and straight seams -- there are no Y-seams.
