Painting in a Drop-In Setting

In the Art Studio, we have a lot of material requests from our guests with many enthusiastically requesting, paint please! We were thinking of ways to allow painting to happen on a large-scale, and designed a painting project for our Every Day Art Project, Have We Got Hues For You! this past summer.Inspired by the different colors within Eric Carle’s most recent book, What’s

Kindergarten Sun Stitching!

Kindergarten learned some basic sewing skills, like threading a plastic needle and creating a running stitch for our summer suns. After two sessions of sewing, we used a variety of materials to create a sun face and practiced using tiny dots of liquid glue. I think these are so charming and folksy!

Clay works in all grades

We have been having "Clay Days” over the last semester, where one day a week would be set up for clay all day. Then once that day's projects have been fired, glazed, refined, and packed - we start again with another weekday. This is a management system that makes it easier and more efficient to do clay projects with the whole school, because I can only store about 6 classes worth of projects at a time. Here are a few of the projects to we have created this year: Kindergarten fossils First…

In the Art Room: Spray Paint Wall Display!

As I've mentioned, I'm slowly "remodeling" my art room. I've been in this space for close to 15 years and I'm just so TIRED of looking at the same decor, store-bought posters, same hot -n- stinky messes. And I feel like it's working and feelin' great BUT organizing is NOT my idea of a party. So, for that reason, I do have to hit the…
