My Patriot Heart
This is one of our favorite WWII photos. Taken in 1945, it shows thousands of troops pulling in to NY Harbor aboard the Queen Elizabeth. If this was 2016, there would be thousands of family members there waiting, but back in 1945, train travel was expensive and arrival ships (and dates) often changed. So after they got off the boat, they'd get a train ticket then go to Western Union to send a "I'm back - see you Tuesday!" telegram.
Our Love is Military Strong
It was a tradition. Whenever a soldier died during battle they would put their markers on a tree. Not just any tree. But the biggest tree in the Forest. It was said that their souls would forever be kept with that tree and protect the town from the demons who plagued them.
Parents who have to leave a child need to be aware of heathy attachment so the child does not grow up with anxiety or insecurity due to feeling unwanted, unimportant or unloved. Children at age of 9 months begin to have "separation anxiety" and the way it is handled forges a life time of attachment or detachment issues in thier personality.
