The Borgias
I think it is such a shame that the tv-show "the Borgias" gives such a historically incorrect picture of the Borgia family. The show has so much potential but…

Part of the Borgia appartments, this was the room in which pope Alexander IV, alias Rodrigo Borgia, held his banquets for nobels, princes and kings. Today, the room is used as an exhibition room for modern art.

Audience
The door to Rodrigo Borgia's appartments in the ancient renaissance part of the Vatican. The appartments were closed after the death of Rodrigo Borgia upon orders of Julius II. They were only opened again several hundreds of years later. These appartments are lying a level lower than the sistine chapel and are usually overseen by the audience. They are, however, authentic and entering them fills you wih awe for what happened in between those walls.

Unmatched In Infamy: I was in the palace section of the Vatican Museum recently, showing some friends the dark neoclassical frescoes and blue and gilded Borgia bulls which so oppressively dominate Alexander VI’s apartments that no pope has been willing to inhabit that part of the palace since.

This codex is a compilation of material drawn from a collection of documents put together by cardinal Nicolas Rossell. The manuscript probably dates from the second half of the 15th century, and may have been commissioned by Cardinal Rodrigo Borgia. It is the work of two copyists and a miniaturist, who decorated almost every page. In the Vatican Secret Archives
