Oh look, a blue doublet. We could put a blouse under this so that the characters do not go shirtless while doing their onstage changing. Although the tying of this particular doublet makes me nervous. 1640 English Coat at the National Army Museum, London - From the curators' comments: "The buff leather coat was a thick protective jacket that could be worn beneath armour. Major Thomas Sanders, a Parliamentarian officer of Sir John Gell's Regiment of Horse, wore this coat during the First Civil War (1642-1646). It has thinner leather on the lower arm to allow the rider to wield a sword or pistol and to control his horse more effectively." 17 Century Fashion Men, Scottish Army, Armor Clothing, Period Outfit, Online Collections, Cavalry

1640 English Leather jerkin at the National Army Museum, London - From the curators' comments: "This jerkin was worn by a harquebusier (light cavalryman) of the Civil War period. Sometimes it might be covered by back and breastplate armour to provide extra protection....A leather jerkin like this was expensive, but it was lighter and more comfortable to wear than armour, and was good at stopping sword cuts."
