When I was in the very early stages of building my portfolio, one of the best ways that I was able to shoot images and network was by borrowing clothing from designers. I would approach small, independent designers who were just starting out, and might not have any images at all. It was a great way to collaborate, and meet some new people, and often would lead to me getting hired by them at some point.
