It is with deep grief that we mourn the passing of one of the greatest French artists, Pierre Soulages at the age of 102. He is often referred to as the "master of dark and light », as for him there was just one color, black, and he spent a lifetime exploring the light within it. "I love the authority of black, its seriousness, its inescapability, its radical nature," Soulages said of his favourite colour. "Black offers amazing possibilities.
