[EGYPT 29618] 'Souls of Osiris at Dendera.' Two images of the soul (ba) of Osiris in the form of a human headed bird decorate the court of the eastern Osiris chapels on the roof of the Hathor Temple at Dendera. The heads are topped by absurdly big "perfume cones". The birds are placed on either side of three sun rays which connect a sun up in the sky and another one which is sitting on the horizon. This part of the Dendera Temple was built during the later Ptolemaic period (first century BC). Photo Mick Palarczyk.
[EGYPT 29601]<br /> 'Harsomptus in Dendera.'<br /> <br /> A relief in the Hathor Temple at Dendera shows the god Harsomptus (also called Ihy) sitting on a throne. He was the child of Hathor of Dendera and Horus of Edfu. During a yearly festival Hathor traveled from Dendera to Edfu where she met Horus and conceived their child Harsomptus.<br /> The relief is located on the (interior) eastern wall of the outer hypostyle hall of the temple and dates from the first century AD.
