A special one for a special day ... saw the light 50 years ago, and still love to play with it. An African bolete with a dark yellowish brown echinulate cap and stipe. The pagoda-shaped cap is typical and brings you straight to Strobilomyces echinatus (Boletales, Basidiomycota, Fungi). Found it in the dense humid forest, growing on small termite nests, mostly under Gilbertiodendron trees (DR Congo, Yangambi Man and Biosphere Reserve, November 2013, ref. ADK5942).
