One of my favorite awls / engravers.   I surface found this .9 inch long tool on a 'postage stamp sized site' in Morgan County, Colorado on November 7, 1987. Most of the artifacts I have collected on this site are late Prehistoric, although I have found some Middle Archaic, as well. Petrified wood is the material. One of my favorite awls / engravers. I surface found this .9 inch long tool on a 'postage stamp sized site' in Morgan County, Colorado on November 7, 1987. Most of the artifacts I have collected on this site are late Prehistoric, although I have found some Middle Archaic, as well. Petrified wood is the material.

Surface found on private land in northern Colorado. Material is quartzite or silicified sandstone. Age around AD 1000. John Branney Collection.
