This will be the crispiest onion ring you ever put in your mouth! i use the sweet onions, biggest one you can find on the shelf. cut it inot 1/2-1 inch thick rings. the batter consist of aprox. 1 1/2 c. of flour, 1/4 cup of instant potatoes, season generously with salt ,pepper, any seasonings you choose. and beer or club soda . pour until batter is like cake batter a little more runny. it will thicken upon standing. due to the potatoes. then have another dish filled with panko crumbs. dip the onion into the batter then panko crumbs and then to a hot pan 1/2 filled with veg oil. fry about 2-3 min or until golden brown. drain and let cool i serve mine with a spicy ranch dip ( ranch and hot sauce)
My recipe for Shepards Pie Mamwitch. (yes, Mamwitch). Make a can of mamwitch and put it on the bottom of a cassarole dish, add 2 cups of corn on top (I usually use frozen at room temp), layer on top of that 6 servings of instant potatoes and top with shredded cheddar. Bake for about 30 min on 400, and enjoy! :)
Okay I have a new found love for using instant mashed potato flakes as breading… On chicken, tilapia, and cod! Here is some tilapia with old bay and the breading… I used a butter and lemon juice mixture prior to coating with the flakes. I then baked for 30 minutes in foil. Spaghetti squash on the side of course!
another recipe posting for my son at college super easy beef stew. I throw my meat as is in the slow cooker pot the night(high) before I plan on making stew barely cover with water. I sometimes add onions too. In the morning I add 3 potatoes, cubed a few baby carrots 1 large can cream of mushroom soup 1 envelope onion soup mix or a few bullions if I don't have the onion soup mix. ground pepper or I usually add some of the steak Montreal seasoning I also add instant potatoes to thicken it up a bit ,you could use flour in place of that.
Easy Instant Potato Salad Put 3-4 eggs in muffin pan, bake at 350 degrees for 30 min then put in cold water for 10 min, peel and chop When the eggs are in cold water boil water, butter and salt to specifications on box of instant mashed potatoes (I used the measurement for six people and had plenty left over for 3). Once the potatoes are done add mayo, mustard, sweet relish, onions if desired and eggs. Then put in fridge to cool.
