Ann's quilt
Mid-Century Modern Quilt Made-to-order | Etsy
The design is simple and modern, the colors are reminiscent of the 50’s and 60’s, the end result is this quilt. It is, as you can see, constructed of bands of colors - graduations of teal, greys, greens, highlighted with bright warm red and oranges. It is machine pieced and the top is free-motion
Squares of Color Quilt Made-to-Order | Etsy
This quilt can hold all the colors of the rainbow and as it is made-to-order the choice is yours! What you see in the pictures is, first a king-size made with thistle purpley-greys and bold reds and oranges, second a throw-size made with grey gradations and brick red to light yellow. As I said, the choice really is yours - blue in the background, the stripe in greens? Chestnut background, the stripe in...whatever (I think you get the idea), just send me a convo and I will get started. As…
Wonky Corners Block Tutorial - Just Jude Designs - Quilting, Patchwork & Sewing patterns and classes
I’ve called it ‘Wonky Corners’ because I couldn’t think of anything else! But if this block has a ‘proper’ name, please let me know! The effect of this block is achieved by alternating coloured strips with a contrasting fabric. It works up to 12.5″ finished. 1. Gather together scraps of fabrics. Varying lengths are good, … Continue reading "Wonky Corners Block Tutorial"

Lemon and Lime
I think it's time I made some new pieces for our house. Yellow seems to be the 'it' color in the living room, so this Lemon is staying put. Hand dyed cottons and silks, hand embroidered, fused and machine quilted. 12" square painted wood panel. Then of course a dash of Lime becomes necessary. This one is mainly hand dyed cotton sateen with some silks thrown in. The sateen has a tendency to fray so I must be careful to cover the edges with adjacent less fraying cottons or silks. Fuse and…

Scrap Bag Pressed Quilts
Another nod to the past here, as I went to my scrap bag to pull the colorful bits and pieces of fabric for these two patchwork wall hangings... Scrap Bag #1 Long ago, every woman who sewed had a scrap bag. Fabric was precious and nothing could go to waste. She often pulled from her bag of scraps when making her quilts, and I've often read historic accounts of elderly quilters who fondly remembered the thrill of getting to go through their mother's scrap bag when first learning how to piece…
Inspirations from "Free People"
How many of you don't like going to the malls? I am one of those who would rather be at home or in the garden, sewing up a storm in my studio or in the kitchen cooking warm meals. Whenever I can, I stay miles and miles away from malls. Just not my thing! But, homecoming is in few weeks and I had to go dress shopping with my daughter this past weekend. We did not find pretty dresses but look what we stumbled upon! I could sit on this chair for hours! Curtains on the dressing room! If you are…
