The Yorkshire Terrier. Developed in the 19th century in the county of Yorkshire, England, to catch rats in clothing mills, the Yorkie is a quite small canine reaching a maximum of a mere 7Ibs. The ideal Yorkshire Terrier character or "personality" is described with a "carriage very upright" & "conveying an important air." Active, very overprotective, & curious, Yorkies love attention. They are also easy to train, but do require a lot of mental & physical stimulation.
